On Thursday, November 7 at 7 pm in Nativity Church, Fr. Bryan is giving a talk on what to expect for the Dedication of our Church. Come learn more about this beautiful rite of the Catholic Church!
On the Saturday of the Dedication, other than the evening Dedication Mass, there will be no other vigil Masses in the parish. The new Mass schedule will begin on Sunday, November 17.
The new address of the parish, effective November 16 is 4337 Sal Lentini Pkwy, Kenner, LA 70065. Starting November 16, all mail sent to Divine Mercy Parish should be sent to that address. Please notify your bank if they send checks. Our parish phone numbers will be the same.
Starting the Thursday before the Dedication (November 14), the offices of the parish will be located in the front part of the new church, behind the bell tower. The parish offices will be closed for moving on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 12 & 13.
Work has begun on the Parish Community Center, which will have a large open meeting room. This building will be located on the north side of the church, and will be finished in the spring or early summer. On November 9 and 10 we will have our Last Sunday Masses in Nativity of Our Lord and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Churches, and at every Mass, we will have a ceremony of leave-taking of the churches. St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School and Divine Mercy parish meetings will continue at the SEAS site until the new educational facilities are built on the new site. The last event at the Nativity site will be 6:30 pm Mass on Thursday, November 14.
Eucharistic Adoration will continue in the chapel at the Nativity site until noon on November 16, when we will close with Benediction, and will re-open on November 17 at 11:30 am in the new chapel, location on the Joe Yenni side of the church in the back.
In the new church, after the Dedication Mass, we will not be using hymnals for Masses on Sundays or holy days. Instead, we will be projecting the lyrics to the songs on the walls near the ends of the transept. We also will be printing the lyrics to the songs in the bulletin, because there are a few places in the pews in the transepts of church where the lyrics are not visible. Projecting the lyrics has the effect of increasing vocal participation in the Mass. We will need a team of volunteers to use a remote control during the Masses to operate the projection
system. It is very easy to do. If you are interested, sign up in the back of church this or next weekend or call the parish office at (504) 466-5016.
